On Expectations

Hello, readers.

I wanted to write a brief post about my reflections.

I have come to realize that bimonthly posting, rather than monthly posting, works better for me. Why, you may ask?

1: I want to make sure that my articles are well-researched and thorough. It's something called the creator's curse: once you start writing, you keep adding more details, but it isn't complete until you go on this other tangent, and then you are done after you have found extra information that would fit into each paragraph. That was an exaggeration, of course, but my point is that while I don't believe in perfection, I value passion and dedication to the content.

2: Based on my current schedule and energy levels, I feel less overwhelmed with this schedule. Posting monthly was my initial goal, but I found myself continually digging through JStor, Core, Google Scholar, Internet Archive, et cetera for resources. I like the process. Plus, posting something like daily or even weekly is understandably challenging. Journalism is breakneck. It is exhilirating yet unrelenting. It can even be deadly these days. I like blogging.

3: Why should I behave like I work as a journalist when I don't? I can make my own rules. I can post about farts once every 41 days if I wanted to. I want to be comfortable and engaged, not under pressure. I want to balance this with other wants and needs in my life. Is this an anticorporate stance? Maybe. Is it selfish? Maybe. But realistically, who cares? I'm the writer, not you.

Thank you for understanding my perspective.
